North Light Film Studios offers four sound stages covering 18,000 square feet and the magnificent versatility of a location that can be anything you want. Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Peak National Park and the Yorkshire Dales, the options for period settings are limitless.
We have an historic Georgian Mansion and stables, six storey mill buildings, mill cottages, an art gallery, ponds and acres of woodland – all on site, with expert support for identifying further locations, some of which we own. From modern city living to Georgian and Victorian splendour, we have it all.
The vast Studio lot provides scope for internal and external adaptation, with a studio team on hand to help you create what you need.
As well as a props and costume store, there are construction and painter’s workshops, and full production suites for long running projects.
We’re at the heart of British film-making but film-making is also at the heart of what we offer. You’ll find an amazing supportive team who will go the extra mile to ensure your project works for you.
The studios’ heritage is rooted in a 100 year tradition but its creative head is about film-making today. We’re as proud of the work done here as the companies who create and produce it; from the Bafta award winning Housewife 49 to the long running Where The Heart Is, from Catherine Tate’s The Bad Mother’s Handbook to the compelling ITV drama Unforgiven.

Visual and audio post production, dry hire edit suites, lighting, camera, grip, sound, set design, graphics, prop houses, facilities, unit transport and catering. The Studios are even within easy reach of the only 35 mm film lab outside of London.
We have access to experienced crew in all departments and have local links to the best talent across the region.
There’s a massive choice of accommodation for cast and crew with hotels and short let apartments across the price range you need.
All technical and crew vehicles have private parking on site.
North Light Film Studios provide a peaceful and calm working environment to make those long days a little easier, and productive.
Centrally located amidst the production hubs of the Northern Way, the Studios are easily accessible by road from M62 and M1 motorways. Only two hours by train from London via Wakefield Westgate, and the major airports of Manchester and Leeds / Bradford are within 35 minutes.
